There are, of course, multiple ways of spelling a name such that it rhymes with the cops reporter's name -- you know, like Kari, Kerrie, etc. (Those would constitute homonyms, if you remember your language arts lessons from third grade.)
Anyway, today's topic deals with those truest of unisex monikers, the ones that have the same spelling regardless of gender. These are, as previously mentioned, the types of names I don't prefer -- but that doesn't mean I can't make a Top 7 list of them anyway. Here we go:
1) Robin. This is a name I could honestly see myself happily going through life with (Robin Ventura is one of my all-time favorite baseball names, plus there was Robert "Robin" McNeil of "NewsHour" fame and, of course, Robin Hood and Robin, the Boy Wonder. On the distaff side, I have a niece named Robin, and Robin Weber is one of my favorite Corvallis Gazette-Times colleagues.
2) Drew. Superagent Rosenhaus, and actress Barrymore.
3) Kelly. EX-NFL quarterback Stauffer and former major leaguer Gruber; as for notable women, too many to even pick a couple.
4) Morgan. Actor Freeman, and actress Fairchild.
5) Jamie. Ageless pitcher Moyer, and another niece.
6) Taylor. I think of this as more of a girls name (nephew's wife, and a Young Voices kid, among others), but I know of at least two Pac-10 football players (Washington's Barton and OSU's Kavanaugh).
7) Kerry. Had childhood acquaintances of either gender with this name.
